Culture in Seville

Seville is internationally known for it's festivals and food, but it is also a place well known for there unique Sevillan music, most commonly attributed to the Flamenco dance.

Festivals

Semana Santa (Holy Week)- The most famous of Sevillan festivals is recognized all over the world, most notable for it's calm yet captivating procession during the week leading up to Easter sunday. Held at different times during March and April, the exact dates for the next few years are: 23 March 2008, 12 April 2009, 4 April 2010.

Seville Fair - A festival that is nearly as famous as Semana Santa, The Seville Fair is held two weeks after the end of Semana Santa. It's is a celebration of life and country.

Carnival - A celebration of the people, Carnival begins before the 40 days of Lent. Considered one of the most celebrated events in the world, Carnaval is demonstration of color and imagination, with massive parades and Carnaval “queens” selected after the events. Occuring in February or March, this event usually lasts a week,.
